SCI FI Channel announced today at the Television Critics Association press tour that the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica would debut in January 2009. January had been rumored as a possibility, but all fans had heard until now was a vague "early 2009", which made an already difficult wait for the long-awaited conclusion of the series even more frustrating. An exact date was not given as yet.
In addition, an official announcement was made that another group of Battlestar Galactica webisodes will premiere before the final episodes of the series. There have been two previous group of web or "mini"sodes for the series before – The Resistance webisodes, which debuted before Season 3 and another group of shorts that ran on SCI FI Channel itself and on the web in conjunction with last fall's Battlestar Galactica: Razor TV-Movie.

Both Six (Tricia Helfer) and Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff) discuss the impending Battlestar Galactica series finale and what their plans are now that the show is finishing up.
“You know, it's funny because everybody had talked about our reactions and some people started crying,” Tricia Helfer told IGN. “I didn't start crying. I just felt like somebody had punched me in the stomach . . . You know the feeling when you come out of a heavy movie and nobody moves? It was like that. I just felt like I couldn't move. And none of that means anything to be read into what happens in the script. It was just really realizing, ‘Oh wow, this is the last Battlestar script I'm reading.' And it hit me in that way.”
