The developers at Sony Online Entertainment have done it again. The Shadow Odyssey is the 5th expansion for Everquest 2 and is once again packed with lush environments and new fights to be won.
The graphics in EQ2 aren't to everyone's liking, but one cannot deny the beauty of the new lands that come with TSO expansion. With 20 plus new areas to explore there is something for everyone here. Some areas may seem familiar, but then you can only make a zone look so different before it starts feeling familiar in places. Still they have done a good job with the new zones and each has its own ambience and character. Several of the original Everquest dungeons have been re-created. Even though these are inside locations it doesn't stop them from being vast in size. Of the re-done dungeons, my favourite was Mistmoore Evernight Abbey. It has a good ambiance and there are details to be found in many places. The Mistmoore dungeons felt like somewhere you'd find a vampire lord living. I think they have done justice to the original.

Blizzard pushed some major upgrades to World of Warcraft's Armory page today (via Massively), enabling several post-3.02 patch features on the MMORPG's character profile site. Tabs cataloging players' Achievements, in-game calendars, and ridiculously detailed general statistics have all been added to the site, allowing for easy reference -- or extra-creepy stalking -- from any internet-enabled computer.
Why would you ever need to know how many times your Warlock has hugged other players? Who knows? But you'll probably be very thankful for the new-and-improved Armory if the question ever comes up. |

They promised it'd come, and now they're going to deliver. Bethesda has announced that the Fallout 3 "Garden of Eden Creation Kit" -- or in simpler terms, Fallout 3 mod tools -- will be released for free for the PC version of the game in December, allowing gamers to create and add their own content to the game.
Additionally, the first official downloadable content was also announced, which will arrive in January for the PC and Xbox 360 versions... but not the PlayStation 3. Two more DLC packs will follow in February and March, but no pricing details for the DLC were given.
The "G.E.C.K.," as Bethesda is calling the mod tools, will allow complete customization of Fallout 3, from building new locations to creating new characters, weapons, and creatures, and writing new dialogue. "We've always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users," said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3. "It's fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can't wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K." Anyone want to start a pool as to when the first nudie mod will be created?
As for the three DLC packs, they include the following:
Operation: Anchorage. Enter a military simulation and fight in one of the greatest battles of the Fallout universe -- the liberation of Anchorage, Alaska from its Chinese Communist invaders. An action-packed battle scheduled for release in January.
The Pitt. Journey to the industrial raider town called The Pitt, located in the remains of Pittsburgh. Choose your side. Scheduled for release in February.
Broken Steel. Join the ranks of the Brotherhood of Steel and rid the Capital Wasteland of the Enclave remnants once and for all. Continues the adventure past the main quest. Scheduled for release in March.
Once again, the DLC will be exclusive to the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game, with no explanation provided for why the PS3 was left out. Is anyone else, from a purely consumer perspective, starting to get a little tired of platform-exclusive DLC?
