As another indicator of the industry's continued globalization, a report from MCV says Bethesda Softworks has formed a partnership with Connect Entertainment to distribute Fallout 3 in 19 more regions, including Greece, Malta, Cyprus, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Lebanon, Qatar, Egypt, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro. The game will be available on all major platforms including the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in all these places.
As I've said before, while it's nice seeing additional distribution channels appearing for publishers and developers to increase sales and help offset those astronomical development costs, I'd like to see more content from foreign developers released here in the states. The additional diversity could only benefit a market plagued by a sometimes overwhelming number of sequels and me-too titles.

Fallout 3 paints a huge, bleak portrait of our nation's capital, yet despite such an obscenely depressing setting, players pressed on to make sense of postnuclear Washington, D.C. It helps a lot that Bethesda, per its Elder Scrolls titles (most notably Morrowind and Oblivion), populates the world with tons of content, whether it's quests or items or characters making do with a small shack by the irradiated Potomac. Since this game's got so much going on, a whole bunch of questions popped up during our playthroughs, so we decided to hit up Lead Designer Emil Pagliarulo for some answers. Be warned -- this is spoilerific stuff, so don't read this until you've finished the game!

Nobody with half a sense of World of Warcraft's popularity doubted that the MMO's latest expansion, Wrath of the Lich King, would be a huge seller, but we're finally getting early indications of just how huge. A leaked internal e-mail from EB Games (via WOW Insider) revealed that the add-on actually broke an epic number of records for the videogame retailer.
Most impressively, Wrath of the Lich King provided EB Games with their biggest launch event ever, leading to the both their biggest sales week of 2008 so far and their second biggest sales week ever (the biggest ever was the week of Christmas last year). Wrath also takes home the titles for most preorders ever, highest single-format week one sales, and highest first day sales of any game ever. Geez, overkill much?
With two expansions under their belt, Blizzard's MMO behemoth shows no signs of slowing down. I'd ask if they could possibly keep it up, but last time I did that they released Wrath of the Lich King and thus produced this story...so instead I'm just going to go level my Death Knight some more.
